In the Windows Update Properties window, Change the startup type to "Disabled", Click stop button. Than click Apply button. And click "OK".



Finish, now your windows update service has stopped. To check the service, you can follow this article.

Open Windows PowerShell. Using the search box, type powershell. Choose and open Windows PowerShell.

Type and ENTER this commad:
get-wmiobject win32_service –filter "name='wuauserv'"
if the results is like below, so your windows update service has stopped.
